Behind the Scenes: Making our NEW Wood Line, Branching Out

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new wood collection: Branching Out! It's our first departure from porcelain, though we do hope to combine them from time to time. We took the inspiration from designs we already use and turned them into something truly unique.

These beautiful pieces couldn’t have been brought to life without the help of our intern Seidy Diaz de Leon. Dive into this Q&A with Seidy for an inside look at how the wood line was created and why it is so special.

Tell us about the new wood line

This new line is something really new in comparison to what Remnant Studios has been doing for a while now. So, this was definitely a new venture to unexplored things. Being able to design this new line and getting to help Quinn through the process of creating these designs was a very unique experience. Just testing the waters with a lot of trial and error with the laser cutter. But loved every bit of the process.

What was your role in creating the new wood line?

My role was to design and create jewelry pieces digitally on a program called Rhino and then post produce them on Adobe Illustrator. Then send it to the laser cutter machine and cut them out and play with the amount of power and speed the laser would etch the design.

How did you get involved with Remnant Studios? What attracted you to the work?

I had seen that they were looking for people and when I saw the purpose and what they created, I fell in love with it. Being able to work with Remnant Studios opened up a creative door for me that I had not worked with in a very long time. Being an architecture major really helped me use my design ideas to a different level that I didn't know I could be on till now.

What do you want people to know about the new line and Remnant Studios?

That it’s different, you don't see everyone wearing wooden earrings every day. I promise you, you can't get a pair like these at the mall. And also that you're helping a great cause in the long run by buying a pair.

We hope you love these pieces as much as we loved making them!
